IFAF WOMEN’S AMERICAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The international championship for women playing American football is the IFAF Women’s World Championship. Six nations participated in the first competition, which was held in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2010. While not allowing any of the teams they faced to score, the United States won the gold. The second occasion took place in 2013, with the games being held in Vantaa, Finland. Once more, the Americans dominated the field and took home the gold medal. In 2017, Canada served as the host country for the third tournament. For the third time, the United States won the gold medal by defeating Canada in the final.
The IFAF announced in December 2018 that Finland will host the championship match in 2021.
IFAF WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2022
The World Cup in women’s American football will be held in Vantaa, Finland, from July 28 to August 8, and the International Federation of American Football, or IFAF, has officially revealed which seven nations will compete alongside Sweden there.
Sweden, the defending World Cup champions, Finland, and the United States are also competing, along with Great Britain, Germany, and Australia. Canada and Mexico, who won silver and bronze, respectively, at the most recent World Cup competition in 2017, are also competing.
Finnkampen 2019 was Sweden’s most recent international women’s American football match, which Sweden won 28-14. The victory was significant because it became the first time ever that Finland was defeated by the Swedish women’s national football team following a string of 13 losses.
Sweden took home a silver medal from the European Championship in Leeds, UK, in 2019. In the European Championship, Sweden finished second to Finland for the gold after defeating the host country Great Britain with a score of 9-6 and Austria with a score of 48-6.
